Description

Database of records of beetles belonging to the aquatic families of suborder Adephaga by one of the leading Danish specialists in this group, Mogens Holmen. He has been recording and collecting through his whole life, since 1963, in almost all parts of Denmark. Families represented in the database include the Gyrinidae, Haliplidae, Noteridae and Dytiscidae which in Denmark comprise ca. 150 species Most of the records are documented by specimens that are kept at the Natural History Museum of Denmark (SNM) in Copenhagen. The majority of those are preserved in alcohol. A few records / collections included in this database are made by other Danish beetle specialists. Although all records are provided with locality names as well as faunistic district and grid number (according to Enghoff & Nielsen 1977), a small part of them is still not georeferenced.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 23,958 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
