Description

Danish: Den store Sommerfuglejagt 2005 + Den store Edderkoppejagt 2004. Occurrence dataset created by two citizen science projects, conducted in August and September, 2004 (Spiders), and in August to October, 2005 (Butterflies), in Denmark. The survey was organized by ConDidact (Danish private company with several websites used for teaching pupils about e.g. Danish animals, www.danske-dyr.dk). In the Spider survey, the participants searched for 3 species of spiders: • Araneus diadematus (Garden Cross Spider, Danish: Korsedderkop) • Araneus quadratus (Four Spot Orb Weaver, Danish: Kvadratedderkop) • Argiope bruennichi (Orb-weaving Spider, Danish: Hvepseedderkop) In the Butterfly survey, the participants searched for 6 species of butterflies: • Vanessa atalanta (Red Admiral, Danish: Admiral) • Aglais io (Peacock Butterfly, European Peacock , Danish: Dagpåfugleøje) • Polygonia c-album (Comma Butterfly, Danish: Det Hvide C) • Aglais urticae (Small Tortoiseshell, Danish: Nældens takvinge) • Nymphalis antiopa (Mourning Cloak, Camberwell Beauty, Danish: Sørgekåbe) • Vanessa cardui (Painted Lady, Danish: Tidselsommerfugl) The project invited the public to search for specific species in their local area. Species descriptions, instructions etc. were made available on a project website (http://danske-dyr.dk/Sv%C3%A6r/naturjagter/Den%20store%20Edderkoppejagt%202004/ and http://danske-dyr.dk/Sv%C3%A6r/naturjagter/Den%20store%20sommerfuglejagt%202005/). Observations of species could be submitted through an online form. The species observations were documented by digital photos, and later were validated by scientific experts.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 4,084 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
